Breeding & Raising Insects for Reptiles

When you care for multiple reptiles, breeding your own feeder insects can be helpful for your wallet. Depending on your staple insec, you may consider rasing your own feeders.

Good staple insects can include:
Crickets
Mealworms
Silkworms
Discoid Roaches

Treats for your reptile can include:
Butterworms
Waxworms
Phoenix worms

Feeder Insects

My favorite staple feeder insects include crickets, mealworms, and discoid roaches.

Some feeder insects are better than others, but for the most part the crickets, mealworms, and discoid roaches, make great staples. You can, also, try silkworms, if you want.

I would stay away from feeding butterworms and waxworms as a staple, as they are high in fat content.
